Project SEARCH – Supported Internship

Want to start a career in retail? Have you got an EHCP? Project SEARCH could be for you! Project SEARCH is a supported internship hosted at ASDA in Langley Mill, delivered by YMCA Key College and Direct Education Business Partnership (DEBP). It is a transition to work programme for 16-24 year olds with special educational needs (SEN) and an Education, Health, and Care Plan.

This course could be for you if you:

  • You have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and are 16-24 years old.
  • You can attend Monday – Friday.
  • You can travel to and from ASDA Langley Mill.
  • You are motivated to work towards paid employment.

What Qualification Will I Be Working Towards?

The Project Search Supported Internships is assessed by Recognising and Recording Progress (RARPA) with the aim of securing paid employment after you have finished the course. You will also receive a certificate of completion from YMCA Key College.

FAQ's

  • Be able to attend on-site at ASDA Monday-Friday

No previous experience needed. You will be supported whilst learning.

Complete the online registration form – you will then be emailed the next steps.

You will not gain a formal qualification; however, you will finish with lots of work experience and transferable skills.

Absolutely. We encourage learners and families to get in touch, and we can organise a visit to the place where you will be doing the Supported Internship.

After completing this course you could:

  • Progress to a higher-level qualification.
  • Move into an apprenticeship or employment.
  • Apply for a job at ASDA.
  • Explore other careers or jobs at a supermarket, such as Online Order Picker, Stock Replenishment Assistant, Self-Scan Assistant, and Bakery Assistant.
